The media has a way of clouding itself over with darkness. Scary and intimidating headlines tend to get more clicks, so the truth can be exaggerated. At a time like this it is almost impossible not to be scared, terrified even, but that is the beauty of God’s love. He doesn’t care about the word impossible. Our God blesses each of us with an abundance of peace that we could never have found on our own. That peace is open to everyone who has opened their hearts to him. It is there for you right now, whenever you have a test, when you have to stand in front of a group of people, and through every other mountain that you have to climb. That is the amazing thing about being a Christian. So, what I want to encourage you with today is to reach out to your friends who may not know the Lord and are seeking for Hope and invite them to church, because everyone needs that peace right now.
We all have an individual calling on our life and God wants to use each of us, but we also have a collective calling of sharing the Good News! God wants every person to be part of His kingdom. He wants each and everyone of us to return home to Him, and to get that to happen He uses each of us to reach out. There may be moments in life when we tend to doubt our calling and the devil loves to target our belief in God’s calling. We want to invite everyone we know, but get scared with thoughts about what could go wrong and what the other person might think. In Matthew 4, Jesus calls out to two fishermen, calling them to come to Him. In Matthew 4:20 it says: Immediately they dropped their nets and left everything behind to follow Jesus. At the end of the day we have to realize that our calling, to bring people to Jesus, has nothing to do with us.
Everyone has a need to know Jesus, and it is doing them a disservice if we don’t reach out. If we aren’t the ones that bring them to church, who will? At a time like right now, everyone needs His peace. We can sometimes get so caught up in our own self doubt and what others might think about us that we fail to take the step. Matthew 5:14-15 says: Your lives light up the world. Let others see your light from a distance, for how can you hide a city that stands on a hill? And who would light a lamp and then hide it in an obscure place? Instead it is placed where everyone in the house can benefit from its light.
Everyone can benefit from the light of God. So what is it that is causing you to hide your light? Who are you not inviting because of that? There is no better time than the right now. Service is online so you can text them a link and ask them to watch with you! You can help them get plugged into a squad! Just don’t hide your light that could bring them into the Kingdom of God.
