I chose you
Those are the words that God spoke to me. Three words that stopped me dead in my tracks while I was long boarding one night. I legit almost fell over, but that’s besides the point. I find it funny that God always knows exactly what I need to hear, at just the right time. I ask God a lot of questions, and I know He has lots of patience because I find myself asking some of the same questions; over and over again. Yet out of all the questions I’ve been asking He simply said, “I chose you”. In the moment of those three words seeming to physically penetrate my heart, they gave me much peace. Two things came to my heart when hearing these words from the Lord.
I’m reminded that God is in control. He is the one who has called me to His purpose, the one who created the universe, and the one that is always by my side. He is in control, not me. As much as I wish I could have my way over everything, His way is perfect and better in every way.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6.
The word “chose” is past tense. Meaning that God has already made up His mind about me. There is nothing that I can or could ever do that will change His mind about me. He loves me, He cares for me, He’ll never leave my side, He’ll always forgive me, He’ll always give grace and mercy, no matter how bad I think I mess up. Psalms 139 says that He knit me together while I was in my mother’s womb, and even before that Jeremiah 29 says that He has a purpose and a plan for me. God has chosen you.
Romans 8:31,38 NLT
“31 What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
To you who are reading this: everything that God has said to me is not special for me. His love, His forgiveness, His purposes are for you too. For every single person, nobody is left out. Thank you Jesus.
